At The Border

A Meeting Place for Those Who Aren’t Afraid of the Border

Greetings All. Wow… That about sums up the conference hosted by John Piper’s “Desiring God Ministries.” The theme this year was “The Supremacy of Christ in a Postmodern World.” David Wells, one of the clearest thinkers in the evangelical world, discussed the thesis of his book (around which the conference was based). DA Carson spoke about love. John Piper preached an incredible closing sermon on Sunday morning.

One of the highlights, for me, was hearing several powerful speakers for the first time (Vodie Baucham, Mark Driscoll and Tim Keller). Mark Driscoll was just incredible. He pastors a large church in Seattle. What really sets him apart is his desire to combine the best of ORTHODOX theology with a RELEVANT minsitry approach. It seems all too often that young, emerging leaders feel the need to exchange the Truth when they pick up their pair of Dr. Martens and hip glasses. Driscoll hasn’t.

Anyway … We’ll be posting a “special edition” podcast with sounds and sights from the conference in the next few days. I’d encourage you to check out the Desiring God website for more info on the conference. It’s worth looking into.

One Response to “Back from the Road”

  1. As i recall, both Piper and Vodie were at OneDay in… 2000? In memphis. i don’t recall if you were there, AB, but I know they were both very good at that event.
