Question: What happens when you tell people that they’re animals?
Answer: They start acting like them.
Sure…lots of people throughout history have allowed their most base urges to control their moral lives. But, current culture–so enamored with Darwin’s Story–has given us all a good reason to do just that. You’re a hairless monkey…so live like one.
The future leaders of our culture are at the Ivy League, writing papers, discussing ideas and publishing pornography. These explicit “sex mags” feature student models. Some are published under the guidance of faculty advisers. How many of you would feel comfortable knowing that your daughter’s prof is the advisor for “The H-Bomb”-Harvard’s student-run porn magazine? Guess what, if she’s taught by Marc Hauser, a professor of psychology and evolutionary biology, then he is!

But along with the bad news, there is some good. Another group at Harvard has founded the “True Love Revolution” to promote abstience on campus. Similar groups are being formed at Princeton and MIT. They better have thick skin, though. As the story reports it:
“Harvard student Rebecca Singh said she was offended by a valentine the group sent to the dormitory mailboxes of all freshmen. It read: ‘Why wait? Because you’re worth it.’ ‘I think they thought that we might not be “ruined” yet,’ Sing said. ‘It’s a symptom of that culture that we have that values a woman on her purity. It’s a relic.’”
The sad thing is…she might be right in a few years.
The blind admiration of anything “Ivy League” is doing so much damage to what are considered the “best and brightest” students. It seems as though someone who is 18 years old will follow almost anything that one of these esteemed professors says in the name of intellectual progress. I pray and believe that Borderlands is a clarion call for this generation to fix their minds and their hearts on the foundational truths of the Bible. May the Lord bless the work of Borderlands because this culture needs it.

Yep. And it is the Ivy Leagues that are leading this charge into intellectualized depravity! Jen and I were talking yesterday. I’m currently reading a fascinating book by a Darwinian “moral philosopher” (a collection of incompatibles if I’ve ever seen one!). Anyway…as we talked about the book, it struck me: The “smarter” you are, the more irrational you must be to exist without God. Really, this guy was trying to attribute numbers to evolutionary forces. Crazy-talk.
sorry, tangent. Just thinking about how it takes a real smarty-pants to do some pretty stupid stuff with a straight face. Your local community college (went there myself) jock just calls ‘em “girlie mags” and has done with it, feeling guilty in the meanwhile. The Ivy-Crowd does the same thing and calls it a sophisticated yet ironically bald deconstruction of patriarchy.
