At The Border

Greetings All! Sorry it’s been a while since the last post. I’ve been playing a bit of catch-up. But Never Fear! My heart is still beating. Let me give you a quick update on some very cool things:

BORDERLANDS FILM SHOOT
On March 15, we had our first official film shoot. An awesome production team helped bring it all off. I want to take a chance to thank them for lending their talents to the endeavor! And we had the perfect crowd size for the shoot. So thanks also to those who made it out.

We filmed one of the talks I’ve given throughout the Midwest and on the East Coast as well called “Consumers or Creators.” The live shoot was one part of what will, in the end, be a unique teaching and small group resource that can be viewed in one sitting, or broken up and used in small groups (with a small group guide we are currently putting together).

We have a few more shorter clips to shoot. The DVDs will be coming out in mid-late August.

YOUTH MINISTRY AND WORLDVIEW
Throughout December (07) and January, I spent time developing a two-session, half-day seminar called “Youth Ministry and Worldview.” We’re hoping to take this seminar to churches around the country this year. In February, one of the larger churches in Holland, MI hosted the seminar. Parents, youth ministry volunteers, and youth pastors from area churches met together. CORINTH REFORMED CHURCH
As most of you probably know, I’m now a pastor at Corinth. I’m serving as “Pastor of Teaching Ministries,” preaching, teaching adult ed, and helping coordinate their young adult (18-24) ministry. They’ve provided an office and administrative assistant for both Borderlands and Corinth work. If you’ve had a chance to see our “Church in Emerging Culture” classes, you’ve already witnessed how this new partnership is a real benefit to Borderlands. The nine-session class was shot in my Sunday morning class.

Well, gonna run for now. But I’m hoping to make a series of posts here soon dealing with the issue of the emergent church movement.
